| Project Synopsis: Challenge/Opportunity |
Latinx Kidlit Book Festival 2024 spreading of info and awareness. The mission of the Latinx Kidlit Book Festival, Inc is to foster a love of story and literacy as well as increase empathy and conversation among educators, students, and book lovers while uplifting the voices of Latinx kidlit book creators. We are a registered 501(c)3 non-profit organization in our fourth year of operation. Our list of sponsors includes publishing powerhouses like Penguin Random House, Simon and Schuster, and Macmillan Publishers; but we also love and appreciate every bit of support from book lovers around the globe. Present and previous festival participants include Supreme Court Justice Sonia Sotomayor, National Ambassador for Young People's Literature Meg Medina, Harvard University Radcliffe Fellow Javier Zamora, Newberry Award winner Donna Barba Higuera, and fellow LDS authors Yamile Méndez, Kaela Rivera, and Marcia Mickelson.
| Project Synopsis: Activities/Actions Required | Last term we had some amazing interns help us out with several areas of the festival. For the next few months, our Social Media Lead, Ines Lozano, would love help with the planning and execution of our social media strategy. We have Facebook, Instagram, Threads, X (Twitter), TikTok, YouTube and LinkedIn and need to leverage our presence on all platforms to reach a wider audience.
| Project Synopsis: Expected Results | We would love to grow our audience on all platforms, but more than just gaining more followers, we need to make sure we're targeting and reaching the CORRECT audience. We may be able to gauge our improved following by observing higher numbers of views of our 2024 festival events during Hispanic Heritage Month (September 15-October 15).
