About INvets

INvets was founded in 2017 by a former Army sniper who understood firsthand that leaving the military is not simply a job change, it is a life-altering moment for veterans and their families. As he prepared for his own transition, he saw a disconnect: highly trained, mission-driven service members were struggling to translate their skills into civilian careers, while Indiana employers faced a growing workforce shortage. INvets was born at the intersection of those two challenges.

What began as a small, employer-supported pilot with five major manufacturers, including Allison Transmission, quickly proved its value. When Indiana’s former Lieutenant Governor recognized INvets as a critical statewide veteran workforce initiative, state funding allowed the organization to remove several financial barriers making INvets a free service for both veterans and Indiana employers.

Today, INvets exists to ensure that no veteran or military family has to navigate transition alone. We partner with service members up to two years before they leave the military and with veterans within five years of separation. This can be the most vulnerable point of their lives. Our work recognizes a simple truth: when one service member transitions, the entire family transitions with them. Careers, housing, schools, healthcare, and identity are all in flux at once.

Through deeply personalized, one-on-one support, INvets’ Veteran Engagement Managers walk alongside each family, helping them make sense of an unfamiliar civilian landscape. We provide career navigation and exploration through our career portal, connecting veterans to more than 600 Indiana employers. We help translate military experience into civilian language, build résumés that tell their true story, prepare for interviews, and connect veterans to trusted partners for upskilling, credentials, and seamless access to frictionless mental health support.

The outcomes are more than job placement. The include stability for families, dignity for veterans, and a stronger workforce for Indiana. Working at INvets, is more than helping former military and their families find transition from the military, we are thanking them for their service to protect our country, helping veterans build a new life, ensuring their skills are valued, and strengthening the communities they choose to call home.
